Jingle All the Way
Brandon Joyner
Christmas? Let’s see. It’s fun.
I remember getting a Christmas Tree. The light progression changed. I remember the first one I got had a Christmas tree with all red lights because the room turned red. And, I remember having different colored lights. And, then... we ended up getting white lights.
I would get Christmas ornaments. My favorite ornament would be the Sesame Street Ornament set, the porcelain ones.
[Editol Note: It should be the purple ornament with the bear that Brandon made when he was a child. Hand-painted on it is John’s name. But, perhaps we’re partial. And, since it’s not... there may be no further blogs from John…]
Presents I remember getting:
The bouncy spring-horse. The dog hand puppet, Fido. And clothes.
The Muppet’s Animal drumset. I would get dolls... not like doll, dolls, but stuffed animal dolls like Muppets and Sesame Street.
The favorite thing I did get... because I used to get scared of it, was Clam, the clown doll. But I think my favorite Christmas present I ever got was furniture. And, that’s all I can remember when I was younger.
Now that I’m grown I get more clothes and books and movies and music. I used to start with the vinyl and record players and then when that phased out... I ended up getting a CD player. And for movies... from Beta to VHS to DVD and now Blu-ray. Sometimes now since I don’t really get that much, I use my money to go out after Christmas to get the things that I want to complete my collection.
Other things about Christmas besides presents...
I like to go Christmas caroling and we sing Christmas carols. Going to church in the morning but singing in a special presentation in the evening. We share the music with everyone. We get to dress up—it's been Victorian to formal. I love dressing up in a tuxedo.
My favorite Christmas song is “Mary Did You Know?” I have hundreds of Christmas albums. I listen to it year-round. It keeps me occupied. It helps me it’s the one thing that always keeps me calm. It’s soothing and brings me to the happiest time of the year for me. I use it for happy times.
Christmas dinner is my favorite. Mom always makes the best. My favorite food for Christmas is macaroni and cheese.
If I could choose anyone in history, living or dead to eat Christmas dinner with, it would be Cheryl Granet.
The true meaning of Christmas... it’s lovely and beautiful and it’s spectacular.
But... what is the meaning of Christmas to me?!
I celebrate Christmas because... And it’s not about the color, it’s not about the presents, it’s not about the things that come with it... It’s the feeling that I get. The spirit of Christmas—we celebrate the birth of Jesus and our Savior and how Jesus rose after he died and it tells about the birth of Him.
A Christmas Wish: I wish that this holiday is wonderful. I wish that happiness and I wish people enjoy their Christmas spirit.
